Initial Phone Screen with Recruiter
I had applied to a Director-level role, and was reached out to by the recruiter to set up a screening call. She asked for my availability and I responded that day with some dates and times that week. I received no response. I then followed up with an email to give her my availability for the following week....again no response. I figured okay....not the first time I have been "ghosted" by a recruiter and maybe they have hired someone for the role. About 3-4 weeks later, the recruiter reached out on a Monday and asked me if I was available on Wed at 9am local time. (She did apologize for the lack of communication). Over the next 2 days I did some interview prep and when I got up Wednesday , I was excited for my Teams call. Unfortunately, I was ghosted again and I have not heard any reasoning or rationale from the recruiter after I sent her follow-up emails to see about where things stand. While I can appreciate that recruiters get busy and have a lot going on, I don't think this is an acceptable or respectable way to treat candidates...especially for a Director-level role where I had to male changes to my schedule to accommodate the interview. If candidates treated recruiters this way, we would never get a job. I have never posted anything like this in the past, but felt compelled by this experience to at least put it out there into the world.
