Slack, Non-responsive, Unprofessional
A KF recruiter reached out to me about a position I didn't apply for. I had two open applications with the organization he was recruiting for, one of which was assigned to him, so I decided to roll with it. An interview was scheduled. I asked him to send me the job posting for the role I hadn't applied for, and if there were any pertinent details I needed to know. Instead of preparing me, he said I'd be fine. I should've known that was junk, because I showed up to the interview and was ambushed by three managers who were hiring for their departments. I felt unprepared and almost set up. I felt that I'd done horribly, but the next day he told me that they were open to bringing me on but we're deciding for which department. Two days later, he texts stating that he was waiting to see if I'd get an offer, which confused me; that's not what was said in the unsolicited feedback given a day after the meeting. I kept in contact with this recruiter trying to be certain that an offer was actually on the table based on the first message sent after the interview. Either I got no response, or a very vague response. Because of the communication issues and confusion, I called HR at the hiring organization. I was given the emails of another KF recruiter and my recruiter's supervisor... Neither responded to my email. I ended up getting an offer from another organization almost two weeks later. I informed my recruiter via text and email, asking that he expedite communication with the managers so that I could make an informed decision. Nothing. I wound up just calling one of the hiring managers and letting her know what had happened, expressing my concerns about the lack of communication and the limbo I was in. She didn't even know what was going on with the hiring process, but kindly decided to ask internally. She called back and said that she wasn't sure, but it sounded like the position wasn't going to be filled as planned. Um, ok. Mind you, they were hiring for multiple positions. I just couldn't accept that, so I called HR again the next day and asked for the manager, who'd left for the day. I was transferred to the new hire orientation director. I had to explain everything to him as well. His response was, "The recruiter is supposed to handle these things, that's their job. He should be responding." Well, he wasn't. The director offered to email the recruiter himself AND call the managers involved for an update. Of course, that was Friday and 5 pm came and went. As it stands, I'm still in limbo. What kind of basic, entry level tomfoolery is going on with this recruiter? And his supervisor who also didn't respond? This whole thing has been ridiculous and messy. It makes you question the inner workings and true quality of the organization. No one knows anything, their contracted recruiters ghost candidates after relaying vague and contradictory information, they still use these recruiters, and my applications are still active with no indication that either position I applied for won't be needed anymore. It's only a matter of time before people here Korn Ferry and the name of the hiring organization and literally roll their eyes. Complete trash.
