Honesty is not the best policy!
I loved this brand, saw a job opening at a difficult crossroads in my existing career and decided to apply. The position was a little lower than my experience but would have worked out for me.
Having sailed through the first stage, I was asked to meet for an interview during which I was asked several interesting questions. The lady expressed her concern that I was overqualified for the role and I explained my logic and reasoning for my keenness to still work for the company. A small step back would be worth it for a solid future. We seemed to understand each other and I felt a buzz - one of the best interviews ever!
Everything was going so well, that she proposed a different role, slightly higher in position and better paid. One that wasn’t advertised yet. I showed curiosity and interest but expressed openly and honest that although I could do both roles, my priority is to work for the right company!
The conversation ended with the promise that I’ll be offered one of the two roles. But I never heard anything back. Follow ups were ignored and I was blanked on LinkedIn despite having connected with this person. Upon reflection, I was tricked - there was no other position. It was a game played at my expense. I’ve since disconnected with the person and I don’t love this brand anymore!
